Last updated: May 2025
Welcome to Ijèbú ni wá — a platform built to connect the Ijebu nation through commerce, culture, and community. By using our platform, you agree to the following terms which protect both our community members and the integrity of our shared heritage.
Contents
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the Ijèbú ni wá platform ("Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Platform.
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Platform after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms. We will notify registered users of material changes via email or a prominent notice on the Platform.
2. Platform Description
Ijèbú ni wá is a digital marketplace and cultural hub dedicated to the Ijebu heritage. The Platform connects buyers with Ijebu artisans, food vendors, cultural event organisers, and tourism service providers.
We act as an intermediary between buyers and sellers. We do not manufacture, own, or directly sell any products or services listed on the Platform unless explicitly stated.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or make purchases on the Platform. By using the Platform, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.
Vendors must complete our seller verification process before listing products or services. We reserve the right to refuse or revoke vendor status at our discretion.
4. User Accounts
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. Notify us immediately at ijebuniwa@gmail.com if you suspect any unauthorised use of your account.
You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to update such information to keep it accurate and complete. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that contain false or misleading information.
5. Marketplace Rules
Sellers must accurately describe all products and services, including materials, dimensions, condition, and any relevant cultural context. Misrepresentation is grounds for immediate removal from the Platform.
Buyers agree to complete purchases in good faith and to provide accurate delivery information. Disputes between buyers and sellers should first be attempted to be resolved directly; the Platform offers mediation services as a secondary recourse.
The following are strictly prohibited: counterfeit or infringing goods, items that misrepresent or mock Ijebu culture, illegal products, and any listings that violate applicable Nigerian law.
6. Payments & Fees
All transactions are processed in Nigerian Naira (NGN) through our secure payment partners. By completing a purchase, you authorise us to charge the total amount including any applicable service fees.
Vendors are subject to a platform commission on each successful sale. Current commission rates are communicated during the vendor onboarding process and may be updated with 30 days' notice.
Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy, which forms part of these Terms. Disputes regarding payments must be raised within 7 days of the transaction date.
7. Cultural Content & Intellectual Property
We celebrate Ijebu heritage and require that all cultural content shared on the Platform — including stories, recipes, artisan descriptions, and event details — is shared with respect and accuracy.
Users retain ownership of content they submit to the Platform but grant Ijèbú ni wá a worldwide, royalty-free licence to display, promote, and distribute that content in connection with the Platform's services.
Ijebu cultural symbols, folklore, and traditional knowledge shared on the Platform are to be treated with cultural sensitivity. Commercial exploitation of sacred or protected cultural heritage outside the Platform is not endorsed by us.
8. Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to: (a) violate any applicable laws or regulations; (b) infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party; (c) transmit spam, malware, or harmful code; (d) engage in fraudulent activity; (e) harass, threaten, or intimidate other users; (f) attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Platform.
Violation of these prohibitions may result in immediate suspension or termination of your account, removal of content, and/or referral to appropriate law enforcement authorities.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Ijèbú ni wá shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Platform or from any goods or services purchased through the Platform.
Our total liability for any claim arising under these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the 3 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
10. Governing Law & Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Platform shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ogun State, Nigeria.
Before initiating legal proceedings, you agree to attempt to resolve disputes through good-faith negotiation. Contact us at ijebuniwa@gmail.com to initiate a dispute resolution process.
